About 10 min walk from the town. Great place to stop to break journey. Very strict on book in time. After 5 hour journey arrived at 14.45 had to wait for 15.00. Staff were very friendly. Room is great for dogs with bowls and treats provided. Dinner was very good not allowed in restaurant with the dog but lots of other nice eating areas.. Breakfast is good if you want cooked breakfast. No fruit or yoghurt which would have been my choice. Had to park on road but no problems parking. Would stay again.
If you ever visit Appleby in Westmorland, for the night, long weekend or week, you have to stay at the Royal Oak Hotel. We stayed a week and the food was delicious, drink was reasonably priced as was the great food. Staff couldn’t have been anymore helpful and courteous. Our dog even had a back garden to run in if required and it was next to our room if we needed to let him out during the night. Loads of different locations to visit within easy driving of the hotel. We´ve been three times for dinner, one time for breakfast during our holidays in Appleby. Food was brilliant, service more than friendly and the traditional ambiance was just what I expect from an English country pub. They even managed to find a peaceful corner table where our dog could relax. Highly recommended!!! See you next year (hopefully)
We had a lovely meal here while on vacation. The food was excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. The pub is also dog friendly, and our dog Pixie absolutely loved all the attention she got! A really enjoyable visit - we’d definitely come back if we’re in the area again.
We loved our stay! The townhouse cottage was a great size with really comfy beds. The restaurant is stunning and the food is 10/10. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!
Would have been 5 star except for one issue. Being a party of 13 we were asked to pre-order two days in advance which we did. Unfortunately despite this, two of the starters were not available and the alternative offered was to have the pulled pork nachos without the pulled pork.
Myself and my husband have just got back from a 1 night stay. We were greeted with a warm welcome and a big smile. The room was lovely and clean and had everything that we needed. The food was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing stay and will definitely be back
Me, my husband and our dog were staying in a wonderful holiday cottage a few doors away for a week . It was very practical having somewhere so close where we could eat after a hard day of climbing hills and mountains. We found the meals very tasty, well worth the price. The service was always super friendly. After prebooking, we also had a wonderful breakfast. Thank you.
Came to stay at the Royal Oak when attending a wedding nearby. Hosts were lovely and welcoming! The rooms were great, had everything we needed and the building has so much character. Had a lovely little stay!
